To Whom it May Concern:

My name is Stephen DePasquale and I am a second year resident at Jacksonville University School of Orthodontics.  Upon graduation in July, I look forward to joining a practice and beginning my future as a private practice orthodontist. I hope my attached resume and this introduction gives you an idea of who I am, how I got to this point, and where I see myself in the future.

I was born the youngest of four boys, into a close-knit, Italian family on Long Island, New York. I was inspired to enter the field of dentistry by my grandfather and my uncles, who are all retired dentists. I realized early on, dentistry, and specifically, orthodontics was my calling. I have found orthodontics to be the perfect combination of serving others while working with my hands and applying my mind. My family has always supported me through this journey. They encouraged me to do well and pursue my passions.

I have a passion for helping others. Throughout my life I have found pleasure giving back to the community and those less fortunate. In college, I coordinated a service trip to Nicaragua raising thousands of dollars for an impoverished community. We donated household supplies and built two houses for homeless families. We traveled to various elementary schools providing the students with oral hygiene instructions and promoted oral health care awareness. It was an unforgettable and fulfilling experience.

I also have a passion for traveling. I find it enjoyable to experience a culture different than my own. While in college, scholarships allowed me to study abroad in Florence, Italy. It was an opportunity of a lifetime. I embraced the Mediterranean lifestyle, became proficient in the Italian language, and grew to love Renaissance art history. I also had the fortunate experience to shadow the late, Dr. Tizziano Baccetti. Although unfamiliar with orthodontic technique at the time, it was clear, by the doctor’s energy and enthusiasm, he had a passion for orthodontics.

I received my dental training from Virginia Commonwealth University. Following up my dental degree, I completed a General Practice Residency at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. From New York, I moved to the sunshine state to pursue orthodontic residency. Starting over 80 patients my first year, the rigorous clinical education at Jacksonville University solidified my confidence to diagnose and treat all malocclusions. I am eager to enter the field of work and practice what I love. Although this letter is a condensed version of my background, I do hope it gives you a snap shot of who I am. I look forward to speaking and meeting with you, and I am excited about the prospect of a future with you and your practice.

Sincerely,

Stephen DePasquale, DDS
